Honeycomb: The World Beyond Sota7 Flora and Fauna Tier Lists
Unofficial research-priority rankings from official surveys, not a live PvP meta.
Honeycomb: The World Beyond does not ship a competitive ladder. A “tier list” on this wiki means research priority: which scans, samples, and parents are worth a trek before September 8 and in the first weeks after. Rankings use Frozen Way’s field surveys, Steam copy, and publisher shorts. They will be wrong the moment a patch changes a hybrid table. Use them as a shopping list next to bioengineering and biomes, not as gospel.
How to read the ranks
- S — Named, high-value, often gated by danger (The Pass). Chase when the lab can actually use them.
- A — Strong early or mid parents, food, or clearly flagged useful species.
- B — Worth scanning for the database, not worth a death in mixed danger.
- C — Landmark plants and animals you should identify so you do not eat them or build on them.
- D — Hostiles and time sinks. Scan from range; do not “main” them.
Open the dedicated pages:
- Plant tier list — Earth Filoy, Solavia, Valley foods, Pass specialists.
- Animal tier list — Lucuma Camilla, Scorchweaver, Azurite Lonebid, territorial wildlife.
If a species is not listed, it is because Frozen Way has not named it in a public letter yet. Scan it anyway. The database is progression. Unnamed does not mean useless.
Why plants outrank weapons
There are no weapon tiers here because the game is not selling a DPS tree. Tools are chisels, secateurs, samplers, drones, pumps, solar, hoverboard, and a tranquilizer. Those are base and survival questions. The “meta” is which parent unlocks a hybrid you cannot make from beach shrubs.
Official numbers from GDC 2025: on the order of 25–30 plants plus hybrids. That is a small enough set to learn and a large enough set to waste a demo hour if you wander without a list. Animals are fewer in the marketing and stricter in the rules (same species only).
Update rules for this hub
When news names a new organism:
- Add it to plants or animals with a source (survey log number, trailer, interview).
- Place it in a rank with a one-line reason (food, parent, hostile, Pass-gated).
- Link the biome it lives in.
- Do not invent stats. Honeycomb has not published a public spreadsheet of graft odds.
Pre-launch lists will look sparse next to a typical live-service ranking. That is honest. A fake 40-row table of invented berries would fail this wiki’s quality bar and your first scan.
Suggested use in a session
Before a Valley loop, skim A and B plants so you recognize food. Before a Headlands loop, skim D animals so you do not greet a Scorchweaver. Before a Pass attempt, skim S ranks and pack immunity pumps. After each loop, mark what you actually scanned. The list is a hypothesis; the scanner is the experiment.
For the science verbs themselves, stay in bioengineering. For “where do I walk,” stay in biomes. This hub only answers “which living thing is worth the bag slot.” When launch week dumps a patch that rewrites hybrids, come back here before you rebuild the entire base around one outdated fruit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is this an official Honeycomb meta?
No. It is an unofficial research-priority list from public surveys. Frozen Way’s letters remain canon; see news.
Why are there so few names?
Because we only rank species the studio has actually named. Scan everything else. The plant list will grow after launch.
Should I chase S-ranks in the demo?
No. The Pass is extreme and the trial is one hour. Follow the demo walkthrough instead.
Where do animals sit versus plants?
Separate page: animal tier list. Same-species crosses only, as explained in bioengineering.
