Honeycomb: The World Beyond Sota7 Plant Tier List

This plant list is a field notebook, not a damage spreadsheet. Honeycomb: The World Beyond asks you to scan, sample, graft, and pollinate. The ranks below answer a single question: which named plants deserve bag space first? Sources are Frozen Way survey logs, Steam copy, and publisher shorts. Unnamed shrubs still get scanned — they just do not get a fake Latin title here. Use with bioengineering, biomes, and the animal list.

S — Pass specialists

Earth Filoy. Survey log #4 (The Pass). Fruit tree on clay-rich uplands and near lakes. Orange, plum-like fruit, soft rind, sweet-sour, juicy, safe to eat raw. Official text says Pass flora is not just food; it feeds advanced crafting, nutrition balance, and hybrid paths you will not see on the coast. Rank: S because it is named, edible, and gated behind an extreme zone. Do not waste the demo hour hunting it. After launch, bring immunity pumps from survival and a lab that can actually run a graft the same day you return.

Other unnamed Pass plants share that S-adjacent warning: scarce, contested, high purpose. Scan them, name them in your notes, and wait for a letter before we invent rows.

A — Useful, flagged, or excellent early parents

Solavia. Publisher short: beautiful, useful, a little unpredictable. That is not a stat line, but it is a louder hint than “pretty tree.” Sample it when you see it. Useful + unpredictable is exactly the kind of parent allogamy wants.

Valley food plants you have scanned as safe. Log #2 calls The Valley low risk and the orientation zone. Anything the database marks edible belongs in A for the first week because hunger is slow (about 24 real hours from full) and still not optional. Do not eat by color. Purple foliage in trailers is a postcard, not a grocery label.

Grow-pod parents that complete a graft you can repeat. If a Valley pair produces a hybrid that solves a nutrition or material gap, promote that pair to A in your personal notes even if this page has not named them yet.

B — Database filler that still matters

Landmark flora from older previews: spiral trees, giant brassica-like plants, hanging red amantus flowers. Rock Paper Shotgun’s 2023 look listed those silhouettes. They are navigation and scan XP. They are not automatically S-tier medicine for Earth. Treat them as B until a survey log gives them a job.

Decorative canopy around your first base. Leave enough standing that The Valley still looks like a classroom. Strip-mining B plants to spam walls is how you run out of parents.

C — Identify so you do not make a mistake

Unknown fruits, glowing stems, and anything the scanner marks with a warning icon. C means “name it, do not dinner it.” Lethal plants are part of the official survival blurb. Getting started already tells you curiosity can bite.

Temple-adjacent and cave flora belong here until proven. Bones and forbidden architecture are story texture; the mushrooms next to them might not be.

D — Time sinks

Any plant that requires a Pass-level walk before your lab exists. Any specimen you die for twice without a database tick. Any “maybe this is the Earth-cure” guess that skips scanning. Hennessy’s job is method, not vibes. D-rank the habit, not just the shrub.

Session shopping list

1. Valley: fill the scanner, bank one edible, bank two parents.
2. Headlands: only add a plant if it is not a duplicate Valley row.
3. Pass: Earth Filoy first, then whatever the log called specialized.
4. Home: one graft or allogamy cycle before you sleep. The tier list hub explains the S–D letters if you skipped them.

When news names a new tree, it should land in a lettered section with a biome tag the same day. Until then, this page stays short on purpose. A long fake list would be easier to write and worse to play with. For animals that will eat you while you botanize, switch to the animal tier list.
